There is something refreshing about a new year. It comes with a new perspective and new health and wellness goals….and of course new wellness trends. The new wellness trends predictions are in and it’s clear that going back to basics is taking center stage.
As a woman who is approaching 40, these trends are right on track to my own personal wellness goals. So while I may not understand the latest TikTok trends, I can definitely get on board with these.
Mindfulness
2025 is the year for mindfulness, whether it’s becoming more aware of your own actions and feelings, taking time to do focused breathing, or developing a meditation practice. Life seems to be getting more and more hectic, and at least for me, my emotions can get out of control. Focusing on breathing during stressful situations has definitely made me a better mother and science has shown that mindfulness can improve all aspects of your life. So if there is one trend you should want to jump on board with, mindfulness is it.
There are plenty of mindfulness apps to help you get started, these are some of my favorites:
2. Prioritizing Sleep
Everyone knows that getting enough sleep is important for your overall health, actually getting enough quality sleep is another story. Each person is different on the amount of sleep needed, but most people fall into the 7-8 hours of sleep a night category. If you’re a parent it may be near impossible to reach that some nights, but there are some things you can do to get those much needed zzzz’s.
Stick to a sleep routine by going to bed and getting up at the same time every night.
End the night in a relaxing way. Put away an screens at least 30 minutes before shut eye. If you need help relaxing try reading a book or enjoying some soothing tea.
Get ready to slip into your sheets by using your favorite body lotion right before bed. If you’re like me and do not prefer lavender scent, choose a lotion that works throughout the night to nourish your skin.
Skip the snooze button and get an alarm clock that helps your wake up more naturally with simulated sunlight and nature sounds.
3. Simple Skincare
With all the different skincare products available you could easily lose your bathroom counterspace and blow your budget all at once. Luckily listening to dermatologists could save you from drowning in products, while still keeping your wrinkles at bay. Going back to basics is a skincare trend that is on the rise due to budgeting and the understanding that layering too many products on can diminish their effects. I’ve paired down my skincare routine, using just 5 products that are known to work to keep my skin protected, hydrated, and youthful looking.
5 Simple Skincare Products for Women 30 and Up:
Daily Sunscreen. The most important skincare product is of course, sunscreen. Helping to block those problematic UV rays and prevent sun damage. Do not skip applying sunscreen even if you are not spending a lot of time out in the sun.
Try: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 Gentle Lotion
Nightly Retinol Serum. For those wrinkles and fine lines. Retinol is the top choice to smooth the skin and give a more youthful appearance. Just be careful if you have sensitive skin.
Try: The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane, High-Strength Retinol Serum
Morning Vitamin C Serum. It brightens, evens out skin tones, and helps diminish dark spots. Plus it has anti-aging benefits as well.
A Moisturizer for Day or Night. I keep it simple by using one moisturizer that does the job well.
Try: La Roche-Posay Toleraine Double Repair Face Moisturizer
Under Eye Cream. Under the eye has delicate skin which requires special attention. Hydrate and get those dark circles under control with one product.
4. Fiber Focused Nutrition
Protein has been the focus in nutrition these past few years, and while it’s still important, fiber has come into the spotlight. Fiber helps control hunger, feeds your good gut bacteria, and helps balance your blood sugar- all of this can lead to maintaining a healthy weight and keeping you on track with your health goals. Make sure you get enough fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds in your diet.

5. Trying Something New and Fun for Exercise
Have you wanted to try a new gym but the cancellation policy was too complicated so you shied away? The good news is that a new law was passed that requires gyms (and other subscription services) to make it easier for consumers to cancel. Gyms will be required to have an easy “click to cancel” button on their website and the law gets rid of those pesky 30-day notice policies. Some states have it already in effect, so go ahead and try out that new gym. This year is the year to find movement that you love in an inviting environment.

6. Forest Bathing
Shinrin-yoku is a Japanese practice in which you immerse yourself with nature to improve your well-being. Better known as forest bathing, getting lost in the woods without any distractions can really improve your mood and mental health. Put away your phone and just enjoy all the beauty nature has to offer. Noticing the sights, sounds, and smells help with mindfulness and who doesn’t want to take a break from their phone every once in a while? If you don’t have a wooded area nearby check out if you city has an arboretum or botanical garden, the most important thing is to take time to connect with nature.
7. Going Soberish
Maybe you don’t want to give up alcohol completely this year but are realizing that as you get older it comes with a lot more side effects than the 20-year old you experienced. 2025 is the year of ‘soberish’ and finding new ways to wind down at the end of the day or have a get together sans alcohol. With the rise of non-alcoholic spirts, calming beverage add-ins, and magical mushrooms- there are plenty of options for anyone to ‘cheers’ without the hangover.

8. Digital Detox
Last year I set limits on my social media scrolling and let me tell you….I didn’t miss a thing. Nowadays social media is heavy filled with ads, trolls, and things that end up making you feel less than happy. Setting time limits or unfollowing people or pages that don’t inspire you or improve your mood is a great step to improve your overall wellness. This year my goal is to actually make some of those recipes or DIY projects I’ve pinned on Pinterest. I will continue to spend less time looking at my phone and more time having real moments with the people I love.
So plan a lunch date with that friend instead of just liking their photos and gratitude in your own life instead of wishing you had an Instagram worthy house.
9. Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy continues to be popular for all of its amazing benefits and if you haven’t tried it yet, this year may be your year. Red like therapy uses low-energy red light, that is absorbed by mitochondria in your cells. The mitochondria produce energy and this enables the cells to repair themselves and help heal your tissues. Red light therapy is good for muscle recovery after a workout, can help with skin issues like wrinkles or acne, and may even help with pain management. There are a lot of different devices depending on what your goal is with the therapy. For my face I use: Solawave 4-in-1 Radiant Renewal Facial Wand. It small and can easily travel.
For muscle recovery and healing my husband and I use : Bestqool Red Light Therapy Device for Body.
10. Hydration
Our last wellness trend: staying hydrated. Despite knowing how important staying hydrated is, I still struggle somedays, usually because I simple forget to drink enough water. Luckily there are plenty of new ways to get hydrated that help meet daily intake goals.
Get a great new water bottle in a fun color, that you will be sure to never forget at home.
Try: HydroJug Sport
Add some flavor to your water on the go.
Try: Waterdrop Hydration Cubes
Add electrolytes for a post-workout hydration boost.
2025 is a great year to start focusing within and stay committed to a healthier you. Whether it’s drinking more water or trying out a new gym, it’s never to late for your wellness journey. What trends will you try this year?
